Herbert Schmidt
Herbert C. Schmidt, 71, of Gladwin, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1992, at his
home. Born on Aug. 18, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to Gladwin County in 1977 from
Otisville. Mr. Schmidt was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired
from the military after serving 22 years. Mr. Schmidt was a member of the Sacred Heart
Catholic Church. He also owned H & S Accounting in Gladwin and was a member of the Gladwin
County VFW Post 7303. Mr. Schmidt and the former Ruth Inscho were married Oct. 12, 1943, in
Detroit.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael of Flint; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald
(Cathy) Maxson of Gladwin; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Schmidt of Gladwin; 5 grandchildren and
a great grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles. Rites will be held at 10:30 a.m.
today, Wednesday, from the Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with
graveside services by the VFW Post 7303. A Scipture service was held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the
Sisson Funeral Home.
