Arthur Schindler
Arthur Schindler, age 80, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Center following a long illness. He was born May 3, 1922 in Oberlin to Martin and Matilda Koenke Schindler.
He married the former Harriet Anderson Aug. 5, 1944 in Gladwin. She survives him. Mr. Schindler was a charter member of the Gladwin Cornerstone Baptist Church. He farmed in Sage Township all of his life and was a member of the Farm Bureau, MMPA, and the soil conservation district. He was an avid horseman, bowler and deer hunter.
Surviving besides his wife Harriet are his children Max and Gloria Schindler of Gladwin, Mary Sue and Steve Czape of Gladwin, Beth and Randy Benson of Beaverton, Barbara and Larry Lyons of Gladwin; grandchildren, Julie and Glen Tortenson, Matt and Tami Schindler, Chad Roehrs, Todd Roehrs, Bryan Lyons, Renee Czape, Rachel Czape and Roberta Czape.
One son Gary and one granddaughter Sarah predeceased Art both in 1990.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Gladwin Cornerstone Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Alexander officiated and burial was in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or Alzheimer's charity. Arrangements were handled through Sisson Funeral Home.
