Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Iva Rubio

   Iva Marie Rubio, former resident of the Rochester-Utica area, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005 in Gladwin Pines Nursing Home at the age of 94.

   Iva was born on Dec. 11, 1910 in Washington, Michigan to William and Anna (Werth) Schultz. She was baptized, confirmed and married in St. John Lutheran Church in Romeo. Iva was united in marriage to Erick Arft on Jan. 30, 1932; he preceded her in death on March 6, 1959. She also married Frank Rubio in 1964; he passed away in 1965.

   She worked many years as a truck gardener, and also worked for Leader Dog for the Blind and the Utica Heights Bakery. While residing in Gladwin for the last 15 years, Iva was a faithful member of the Christ the King Lutheran Church, and enjoyed quilting with her friends.

   Iva is survived by her son, Leonard (Elaine) Arft of New Haven; daughter-in-law, Lucille of Beaverton; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Schultz of Yale and Emily Schultz of California; seven grandchildren, several Great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; her son, Raymond Arft; brothers, Richard, Charles, Arthur, Fred, Paul and Clarence Schultz; Florence Page; and sister, Irene Lambert.

   Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Gladwin with Rev. David Sprang officiating. Burial was at Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Clinton Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church in Gladwin.
