David S. Ross
David S. Ross, 89, of 139 W. Brown St., Beaverton City, died May 25, 1977, at Gladwin Area Hospital following a lengthy illness. A prominent citizen of Beaverton for the past 70 years, Mr. Ross was born in Paulding County, Ohio, August 11, 1887. He came to Beaverton in 1907. He and the former Mary E. Paxton were married in Grover Hill, Ohio, on October 5, 1905, and she preceded him in death Dec. 12, 1973. Mr. Ross was a former mayor of Beaverton, a former member of the Gladwin County Board of Supervisors, of the Beaverton School Board and the Tri County Health Commission. He was employed by the National Park Service and owned and operated several businesses at various times over the years.
He was a member of the Beaverton Presbyterian Church and the Beaverton F.& A.M Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Betty) Rogers of Saginaw; 3 sons, L. T. Ross of Mt. Pleasant, F. Wayne Ross of Enon, Ohio, and Warren Ross of Portland, Oregon; a brother, Leo, and a sister, Mrs. Julia Simpson, both of Van Wert, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home Beaverton Chaperl, with the Rev. Donald Frederick officiating. Interment was Dale Cemetery, Beaverton.
