Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Frederick Rooker

   (Jack) Fredrick Allin Rooker, 66, of Indian Wells, died May 10, 2006, in Palm Springs, Calif. He was born Feb. 2, 1940, to Alfred H. Rooker, Jr. and Linnie L. Stafford in Saginaw. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bird of Palm Desert, Calif.; daughters, Rebecca Bird and Sheryl Rooker (Jeff) Thaler of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; three sons, David Rooker, Christopher (Antoinette) Rooker of Palm Desert, Calif. and Gregory (Evangeline) Rooker of Forest Grove, Ore.; a twin sister, Charlene Rooker of Midland; three brothers, Bernard Rooker of Oklahoma, Don Rooker of Farmington Hills and Mark Shaffran of Peru, Indiana; his mother, Linnie L. Rooker of Midland; and 10 grandchildren.

   Jack and Sharon graduated in 1958 from Shepherd High and married in June 1958. They originally raised their family in Swartz Creek, then migrated to the West Coast. Jack was a truck driver for 40 years starting at United Parcel Service (UPS). Jack worked for a number of companies in the Flint area and three years ago retired from Stewart-Stiles, Trucking company in Oregon. Jack loved cars, guitars, Euchre (teaching the card game to whoever would listen, "Get in the back of the bus!"), and was a converted Los Angeles Lakers fan. Jack enjoyed being a grandfather and loved his family thoroughly. He was a certified handyman and never missed a good crossword puzzle. He touched numerous lives by his genuine personality. He will be dearly missed.

   A memorial service was held May 13, 2006, at FitzHenry Funeral Home in Palm Desert, Calif. Private arrangements are under the direction of FitzHenry Funeral Home, Palm Desert Chapel.

   The family suggests that donations be made in his name to the Ranch Recovery Center in Desert Hot Springs, 7885 Annandale Ave., Desert Hot Springs, CA 92240.
