Carl Richard Roberts
Carl Richard Roberts, 71, of Beaverton, died Sunday, April 4, 1999. Born
Oct. 2, 1927, he was known as "Rich," an avid outdoorsman who especially loved to fish the
lakes and rivers of his native Michigan. He was a World War II veteran with the Army Air Corps
during the Berlin Airlift; and a military policeman stationed at Tulin, Austria. He was retired
from The Dow Chemical Company after 35 years. He was a member of the Beaverton Lions Club, the
Beaverton Presbyterian Church, and VFW 7303.
A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, "Babe" Viola June
(Crockett); three children and eight grandchildren, James Carl and wife Patricia Roberts of Midland
with a grandson, Bryan James Roberts of San Diego, Calif., and granddaughter Amber Roberts of
Midland; Jerry and wife Beth Roberts, with grandsons Christopher, Jonathan and granddaughter Emily,
all of Okemos; Vicki and husband Brian Higgins with grandsons Dan and Steven Yager of Big Rapids, and
granddaughter, Melanie Yager of Clarksville; stepmother, Mrs. Myrtle Roberts of Beaverton; half-sister,
Dorothy and husband Earl Pagel of Gladwin; many nieces and nephews; and several stepbrothers and
stepsisters.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) at Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. Burial
will be in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton with VFW Post 7303 in charge of the service.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday) 3:30 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rich
Roberts memorial fund.
The Roberts family would like to express their thanks to all the friends who helped with transportation
to, and the loving care he received while at MidMichigan Regional Dialysis Center in Midland.
