Herman Albert Ripke
Helped Organize Secord Township and Was First Supervisor there.
Herman Albert Ripke died Feb. 12 at his home in Secord township after a long illness. Mr. Ripke was born in Germany and was aged 60 years, 3 months and 8 days. Mr. Ripke and family moved to Secord township some years ago, previous to organization of Secord township, and was the first supervisor of the township. Since coming to this county they have lived on the farm formerly occupied by Marvil Secord, the first resident of the county.
During the last year Mr. Ripke has sold the place to a city man for a summer home. Mr. Ripke was employed by the Stevens, McClure Land Co. as salesman several years. Mr. Ripke enjoyed a wide acquaintance among people of the county, and was held in high esteem by many friends. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Virgil Brown of Midland, two daughters and two sons at home. Services were held at the Secord Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial in Secord cemetery.
