John Reid
John M. Reid, 71, of 231 Max St., Wooden Shoe Village, died suddenly Monday,
Nov. 23, while shoveling snow. Born in Hamilton, Scotland, on May 9, 1906, he came to the United
States in 1928 and worked for Ford Motor Co. at the Rouge Plant for 40 years as a hi-lo truck
driver. Following his retirement in 1968, he moved to Gladwin County. Mr. Reid was married to the
former Jane McTavish on March 4, 1927, in Hamilton, Scotland.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Jane) Paull of Gladwin and Mrs.
Robert (Helen) Stallwood of Redford; 3 sisters, Mrs. Nellie Lebeque of Detroit, Mrs. Isabelle Green
of Keego Harbor and Mrs. Jean Chesner of Westland; 2 brothers, Charles of Florida and James of
Southfield; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Winston
Decker will officiate and burial will be in the Highland Cemetery.
