Evelyn Reid
Evelyn Anna Reid, 79, of Gladwin passed away Aug. 28, 2005 at her daughter Kathleen’s home. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 17, 1925 to the late John and Anna (Nicolaus) Fanslau. She married Duane Reid on May 7, 1944 in Hamilton Township. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2000. They owned and operated Reid’s Grocery and Gas Station for many years. She was an Avon representative for the past 33 years and a foster mother to 32 children. Evelyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons, Phillip Reid of Harrison and David Reid of Sunrise, Florida; two daughters, Elaine (Tim) Walters of Gladwin and Kathleen (Jim) Walters of Beaverton; nine grandchildren, six Great grandchildren; and special friend, Emmett Witt of Gladwin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 1 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gladwin with Pastor Paul Metzger officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. On Thursday Mrs. Reid will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to the Heartland Hospice of Bay City. The Sisson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
