James Rau
ILLNESS FATAL TO JAMES RAU, 35
James E. Rau, 35, of Tobacco Township, died Monday, Sept. 8, in the Midland Hospital after
an illness of several months. Born in Beaverton on Oct. 10, 1933, he was a lifetime resident of
Gladwin County. Mr. Rau was a farmer and also served two years in the Army in Korea. He was a
member of the Beavertn Church of the Brethren, Gladwin County Farm Bureau and former member of
the Gladwin ASC Committee. He was married to the former Viola Robertson on August 8, 1964, at Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rau, of Gladwin; a stepson,
Cal D. Robertson, at home; one stepdaughter, Deborah L. Robertson, at home; one brother, Jerry, of
Sanford; and a sister, Mrs. Winifred Dugan, of Beaverton. Services were held today, Wednesday, at 2
p.m. from the Brethren. The Rev. Henry List and the Rev. Arthur Whisler officiated and burial was in
the Dale Cemetery. The Miner-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
