Edward Pratt
Edward G. Pratt, 55, of 1709 S. M-18, Gladwin, was pronounced dead on arrival
at the Gladwin Area Hospital Wednesday, June 9, after suffering a heart attack following a short
illness. Born in West Virginia on March 13, 1921, he came to Gladwin County 19 years ago from
Newaygo. Mr. Pratt was employed as a repairman for the Sun Oil Company. He was a World War II
veteran and a member of the Gladwin County Veterans of Foreign War Post 7303. He was married to
the former Daisy Parker in Alma, W. Va., on November 17, 1941.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Carolyn) Haines of Mt. Morris
and Trudy of Gladwin; six sons, Ronald of Flint, Douglass of St. Helen, Stephen of Beaverton, and
Terry, David and Bruce, all of Gladwin; three brothers, Jack and Carl of West Virginia, and Orville
of Ohio; three sisters, Mary Alske and Nelta Hal of Ohio and Garnet Strong of Evart; and 13 grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. The Rev. Winston Decker
officiated and burial was in the Dale Cemetery.
