BEAVERTON WOMAN DROWNS AT OSCODA
Mrs. Timothy (Kim) Poole, 27, of 3936 Jones Rd., Beaverton, drowned last Wednesday in a fishing boat accident in Lake Huron at Oscoda. Her husband was rescued. Police said their small boat capsized while they were fishing for lake trout in "very choppy water" near the mouth of the AuSable River. According to Oscoda-AuSable Township police, an unidentified boater saw the Poole boat capsize shortly afternoon and notified Patricia Brewer, owner of the Main Pier Marina.
She notified Floyd Payne, commodore of the Oscoda Yacht Club and a member of the Oscoda Coast Guard Auxiliary. He and three other club members rushed to the scene. Payne said the "water was terribly rough," with waves up to eight feet.
The Oscoda man said he saw something in the water that looked like a coat, but turned out to be Mrs. Poole's body. Police estimated Mrs. Poole had been in the chilly water between 30 and 40 minutes. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Tawas Hospital, Tawas City. Her husband was rescued by another unidentified boater.
Payne said he spotted a brown jacket, a cap, paddle, and two life preserves which had not been used at the accident scene. Mrs. Poole's obituary appears on Page 2br>
