William R. Pobur
William R. Pobur, 58, of 506 W. M-61, Gladwin, died Thursday, Oct. 30, in
the Midland Hospital after an illness of two years. Born in Detroit on December 2, 1917, he
came to Gladwin County in June 1969. Mr. Pobur was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War
II and a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Detroit. He was a service station mechanic and
was employed at Gust's Standard Service in Gladwin. Mr. Pobur and the former Betty Stenstrom
were married on Jan. 22, 1950, in Detroit.
Surviving include his wife, Betty; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Pobur of Westland; one son, Daniel
of Farmington; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Hauck of Gladwin and Mrs. Mildred Marcotte of Wolverine;
and one granddaughter. Services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home. The
Rev. Herbert Biermann officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
