David Pierce
David A. Pierce died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Armstrong in Sage
township, Wednesday, Dec. 30, aged 79. Mr. Pierce was a native of New York state, and moved to
Michigan before the war, and enlisted in this state and served through the Civil war. He resided
for many years in Marlette, and after the death of his wife nine years ago he lived with his
daughter, Mrs. Ralph Smith in Standish, until last June, when he came to Gladwin and lived with
his daughter, Mrs. A. Armstrong. He is survived by one son, Theodore Pierce, who lives in Portland,
Oregon, and three daughters, Mrs. A. Armstrong and Mrs. Edward Kelly of Gladwin, and Mrs. R. B. Smith
of Standish, and a number of grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. L. Foulkes this
(Thursday) afternoon at the residence of E. Kelly, and the body will be taken to Marlett for interment.
