Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Richard Pickard

   Richard Russell Pickard, 89, of Gladwin, died Jan. 23, 2006 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland following a short illness.

   He was born Aug. 14, 1916 in Detroit to George and Ella (Zirbel) Pickard. He married Ethel Goheen in Gladwin on Feb. 18, 1939; she died in 1998. He lived most of his life in Gladwin County and was a shop foreman employed from 1949-1979 at the Gladwin County Road Commission. He retired in 1979. Surviving him are two sons, Kenneth (Sharon) Pickard of Midland, and Dennis Pickard and friend Brenda Christian of Roscommon; his daughter-in-law, Jane (Charles) Jones of Millington; 13 grandchildren, 22 Great-grandchildren and five Great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George (Evelyn) Pickard of Gladwin; five step-brothers, Melvin (Carol) Brown and Eugene (Erica) Brown, both of Gladwin, Leroy (JoAnn) Brown of Beaverton, Louellen Brown of Flint, and Theodore (Eunice) Brown of Coleman; and 32 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; two sons, Richard and Gary; and by his parents.

   A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 440 E. Cedar Avenue in Gladwin with Elder Marlene Haines and Elder Roger Haines officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Gladwin. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 26 from 1-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
