Tony Pettinato
TONY PETTINATO
Tony J. Pettinato, 72, of 1818 S. Hockaday Rd.,
Gladwin, died Thursday, June 9, in the Gladwin Area
Hospital after an illness of 6 months. Born in
Windsor, Ont., Can., May 1, 1916, he moved to Gladwin
County in 1978 from East Detroit. Mr. Pettinato was a
rodbuster for Reinforced Ironworkers, Local 426,
Detroit, and retired May 1, 1978, after 45 years. He
served in the Army during World War II and was a past
commander of Shafer-Rachelle VFW Post 6782, East
Detroit. Mr. Pettinato and the former Margaret Costie
were married Aug. 17, 1946, in Detroit.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, John of
Richmond and Jim of Hartland, Wisc..; 2 daughters,
Mrs. Paul (Patricia) Hastie of Mt. Clemens and Mrs.
Terry (Sally) Walt of Gladwin; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary
Iannicello of Windsor and Mrs. Frances Herbert of
Algonac; and 16 grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Hall
Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Roger Hardy
officiated and burial was in the Arbutus Cemetery. A
VFW Honor Guard held a service Saturday at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
