Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Charles Pettelle

   Charles F. Pettelle, 87, of Beaverton, died Feb. 8, 2006 at home following a long illness. He was born Dec. 4, 1918 in Seattle, Washington to Paul and Cuma (Whinery) Pettelle. He married the former Julia Posnik in Napoleon, Ohio on June 27, 1942; she died in 2003.

   Mr. Pettelle served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was Vice President of Michigan Transportation Company in Dearborn until his retirement in 1974. He lived in Gladwin County for the last nine years, having previously resided in Fenton. He was a member of Gladwin Masonic Lodge 397. Surviving are two daughters, Dale Pettelle of Beaverton and Rae L. Cosier of Roscommon; one son, Phillip C. (Maria) Pettelle of Berkley; his grandchildren, Jeffrey and Sarah Cosier of Grand Rapids, Nathan and Laura Cosier of Freeland, and Derrick Pettelle and Vincent Pettelle, both of Berkley; his Great-granddaughter, Emily Cosier of Grand Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

   He is predeceased by his wife, and by his brothers, James, Edwin, Joseph and Paul.

   Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 11 at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin with Pastor Brad Withrow officiating. Burial followed in Tyron Memorial Gardens in Fenton. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Childrens’ Hospital or Mid- Michigan Hospice.
