Russell Pero
Russell E. Pero, 70, of 2539 Ridge Rd., Gladwin, died suddenly Thursday,
June 12, at his home of a heart attack. Born in Sage Township on February 18, 1910, he had
spent his lifetime in Gladwin County. Mr. Pero was a retired heavy equipment operator for
Cooke Contracting of Detroit. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of
the Operating Engineers AFL CIO 324, the Masonic Lodge and Gladwin I.O.O.F. Mr. Pero and former
Mary Greer were married on December 22, 1948, in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Keen of Flint; one
sister, Mrs. Gladys Wykoff of Gladwin; and one grandson. A son, David, preceded him in death
January 2, 1973. Services were held Monday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl
Briggs officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemete.
