Mary Greer-Pero
Mrs. Mary L. Greer Pero, 84, passed away March 27, 2005. She was born Nov. 26, 1920 in Gladwin County. She was the daughter of Albert and Dora Murphy Greer. She was married to the late Russell E. Pero who predeceased her in 1980.
Her son David also predeceased her in 1973. Her brothers Walter Greer, Edward Greer, and Frederick Greer, as well as her sister Margaret Swift also predeceased her.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Albert) Keen, and grandsons, Andrew and Adam. Also surviving is her sister, Florence Rebone. Mary attended County Normal and was a rural school teacher before going to Central Michigan University and obtaining a degree in education. During World War II she joined the Womens Army Nursing Corp and went to the Henry Ford School of Nursing in Detroit, where she completed her training and graduated as a registered nurse. She then returned to Gladwin County and worked at the Gladwin Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 1982.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, from 6- 9 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. Donations may be made to Lance Armstrong Foundation (cancer survivor)..
