Richard Paulis
Richard “Dick” Paulis, 72, of Gaylord, passed away peacefully at his home in Michaywe on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006.
He was born on March 18, 1933 in Akron, Ohio. He married the former Edith Barry on April 13, 1957 in St. John Episcopal Church in Royal Oak, Michigan and they enjoyed 48 years together. Dick worked in sales for 45 years for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, most recently in Peoria, Illinois in their truck division, retiring in 1999. Upon his retirement they moved to Gaylord from Peoria, Illinois in 2000. Dick was an avid skeet shooter and was the Illinois state champion in his class. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, all the wildlife, photography, and especially enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Laura (Chip) Hansen of East Jordan and Lee (Randy) Grimes of Gladwin; grandsons, Eric and Scott Hansen and granddaughters, Sarah and Anna Grimes; his brother, Bill (Sally) Paulis of Jackson; his sisters, Mary Ellen Schoenfelder of Banning, California and Susan Paulis of Shelby Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Paulis.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on Charles Brink Road in Gaylord with Pastor Mary McClure officiating. The family will accept visitors at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Little Traverse Conservancy, 3264 Powell Road, Harbor Springs, MI 49740, or through the Nelson Funeral Home, P.O.
