John G. Parker
John G. Parker was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Oct.
22, 1836. He was married in Canada, and in 1865 came
with his family to Lapeer. In the year 1866 they went
to Huron county and located upon 160 acres of
government land, and with several others from Lapeer
started one of the pioneer settlements of that county.
Having lost his first wife by death, after a time he
married again, still living at the old home. In 1878
he sold the home and moved to Gladwin county, where he
lived up to the time of his death, making for himself
a fine farm in Grout township, which he sold a few
years ago and moved to a farm which he bought just
east of the city. There is left to mourn his death two
sons and one daughter by his first wife, also a host
of friends and neighbors who will miss him. One
brother was in attendance at the funeral.
