Daniel Parker
A horrible accident occurred at East Saginaw on
Wednesday evening of last week. Workmen at Johnston's
lime kiln in that place observed that the lime stone
had clogged in the kiln, near the top, and would not
settle toward the bottom, as that portion near the
"hauling out" gate was removed. Thereupon four men
went up to work the mass down. It all settled suddenly
and took with it one of the men, named Daniel Parker,
whose feet got wedged in with the limestone, and he
was drawn down into the center of the fire and
literally roasted to death. The poor fellow leaves a
wife and three small children.
