Mathilda Owens

   Mathilda “Tillie” Owens, 84, of Coleman passed away Dec. 4, 2007 at Tender Care Nursing Home-Clare following a long illness.

   She was born May 4, 1923 in Charlevoix to Herman and Edna (Vermilla) Jerichow. She was a homemaker and had lived in Gladwin County since 1940, previously residing in St. Louis, Michigan. She was a member of Beaverton Church of the Nazarene.

   Mathilda married Earl Owens on Aug. 24, 1946 in North Bradley. He preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Green of Wooster, Ohio, Elaine (Roger) Fruchey of Owaton, Minnesota, and Yvonne (Stephen) Balakovich of Coleman; 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Owens of Beaverton; brother, John Jerichow of Harbor Springs; sisters, Thelma Bennett of Dewitt and Alice Lyk of Grayling. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

   Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at Beaverton Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mark Moore and Pastor Sam Dunbar officiating. She will be laid to rest in Tobacco Township Dale Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 3-8 p.m. at Hall- Kokotovich Funeral Home in Beaverton. Call the funeral home for time of the funeral at 989-426-7651. Memorial contributions can be made to MidMichigan Hospice.
