Margaret Owns
Margaret Edith Owens, 78, of Midland passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at her home after a battle with cancer.
Margaret was born on May 31, 1927 in Gladwin to the late John and Olive Plude. She lived in Midland most of her life. She was a member of the Eastman Road Economics Group, and was actively involved with Midland County 4-H, where she led the garden club and was a sewing leader for Gray 4-H Club. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Altar Society. She married Mark Owens in 1949. Margaret is survived by her husband, Mark; nine children, David (Judy) of Elwell, Philip (Colleen) of Toledo, Ohio, Bruce Owens of Midland, Elizabeth (Jeff) Hall of Mishawaka, Indiana, Thomas (Debbie) Owens of Temple, Texas, and Daniel (Jill) Owens, Mary Owens, Theresa (Chris) Coventry, and Christine Owens, all of Midland; 19 grandchildren, Kelly Owens, Megan Owens, Matthew Owens, Amy Bell, Adam Owens, Ezekiel Owens, Rebecca Owens, Benjamin Owens, Jonathan Owens, Jessica Owens, Mark Owens, Christopher Hall, Sarah Hall, Bradley Owens, Valerie Owens, Patrick Owens, Samuel Owens, Alexander Owens, and Alyssa Coventry; three great grandchildren, Tessa Bell, Hayley Bell and Audrik Owens; siblings Elaine (Don) Wolfe, Rosella (Jack) Runyon, Walter (Cecilia) Plude, Barbara Jean Owens, Josephine (Ned) Weckesser, Delores (Ron) Bigelow, Richard (Patsy) Plude, Karen (Carl) Mitchell, Jack (Margaret) Plude; and sisters-in-law Alice Owens, Kay Owens, Germaine Owens, Lucille Plude, and Delia Sandow. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Bernard, Leo and Edward Plude, and Nick Parker; sisters Rita Bloing and Sally Parker; and her grandson, Ryan Owens.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, March 4 at Assumption of the Blessed Mary Church with Fr. Richard Filary as celebrant. Interment followed at New Calvary Cemetery. The Owens family would like to thank the staffs of MidMichigan Hospice and the VNA for their help during this very difficult time.
