Ralph Opland
Ralph M. Opland, 85, of 1305 Spring St., Gladwin, died Monday, Sept. 7, in
the Gladwin Area Hospital after a short illness. Born in Calumet on February 19, 1896, he came
to Gladwin County in 1942, from Detroit. Mr. Opland was in land development and owned and
operated Oplands Resort at Pratts Lake several years ago. He was a veteran of World War I and
was a member of the Gladwin County V.F.W. Post 7303 and the Gladwin Masonic Lodge. He and the
former Lillian Parsons were married November 12, 1927, in Detroit.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lois Biddinger of Novi; one sister,
Mrs. Edna Trevarthen of Troy and 2 grandsons. Services were held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m.
from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Donald Bates officiated and burial was in
the Ridge Cemetery.
