Roy Ockerman
Roy S. Ockerman, 82, of 5205 W. M-18, Sage Township, died Monday, February
9, at a nursing facility in Corunna. A resident of Gladwin County since 1900, Mr. Ockerman was
born October 30, 1893, at Owosso, the son of Charles and Eliza Simpson Ockerman. He and the
former Rose Cripps were married December 23, 1919, in Gladwin; and she survives him. Mr. Ockerman
was a veteran of World War I serving with the U.S. Army in France and Germany. Following army
service he was employed as a carpenter and builder and in farming. He was a member of the Gladwin
County World War I Barracks No. 3421.
Surviving in additon to his wife are 2 sons, Glenn of Owosso, and Derwood of Gladwin; a daughter,
Mrs. Edward (Wanda) Mennaga of Hastings; 1 sister, Mrs. William (Ruth) Rohloff of Cleveland, Ohio;
10 grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home with the Rev.
Helena Egts officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemete.
