John L. Nowland
John Leon Nowland, 68, of 5490 South Oakridge Dr., Beaverton, died Saturday,
Sept. 4, in Outer Drive Hospital, Lincoln Park, after an illness of 10 months. Born in Saginaw
on March 12, 1908, he came to Gladwin County 15 years ago from Ecorse. Mr. Nowland was a retired
boiler maker and a veteran World War II. He was married on October 25, 1941, in Napoleon, Ohio.
Besides his wife, Betty, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Oveta Klein and Mrs. Leatha
Cooper; and three brothers, Dan, Coy and Patrick. Rites were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Hall
Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. The Rev. Father George Artman officiated and burial was in the Dale
Cemetery.
