Richard Norton
DR. NORTON BURIED AT DALE CEMETERY
Services for Dr. Richard C. Norton, 66, 15153 Northville Road, Plymouth widely known
in state medical circles, were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Brethren Church in Beaverton with the
Rev. Randall Roose officiating. Burial was in Dale Cemetery. He died in University Hospital,
Ann Arbor, Friday. Born July 25, 1901, at Dalton, Mass., he graduated from the Yale University
Medical School in 1925, served his internship at New Haven, Conn., Hospital, and his residency
at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
He served with the Medical Corps, U.S. Army, during World War II with the rank of lieutenant
colonel. He also had seen service with the National Board of Medical Examiners, as well as the
medical staff of Battle Creek Sanatorium, Harper Hospital, Detroit, and Veterans Administrations
Hospital, Detroit.
Dr. Norton and the former Elva McKimmy McCourt were married in 1955 in Cumberland, Md. She is
a former Gladwin County resident. Surviving are his widow, Elva; a daughter, Mrs. Leslie Viereck,
of Alaska; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Wilbur Berryman, of Plymouth; a stepson, James McCourt, Brownville,
Tex.; and a brother Prof. William B. Norton, Wellesley Hills, Mass.; and four grandchildren. Hall
