Charles Newman
Charles (Tug) Newman, 68, of 607 Elk St. Gladwin, died Monday, June 8, in
the Gladwin Area Hospital after a short illness. Born in Gladwin Dec. 14, 1918, he had spent
his lifetime here. Mr. Newman served in the Army during World War II and was a cement and block
layer. He and the former Elizabeth (Betty) Dumitru were married July 19, 1941, in Gladwin. She
preceded him in death June 16, 1975.
Surviving are one son, Charles J. of Gladwin; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Patsy) Myers of Clare;
3 sisters, Mrs. Agnes Breault and Mrs. Jessie Wade of Gladwin and Mrs. Rose Sprague of Oklahoma;
and 5 grandchildren. Services were held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home,
Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Father Donald Christensen officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
