William Nettleton
ILLNESS FATAL TO WILLIAM NETTLETON
William Nettleton, Sr., 72, of Gladwin, died Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Saginaw Veterans
Hospital following a long illness. A farmer, Mr. Nettleton was a life-long resident of Gladwin
County. He was born here Dec. 30, 1894, and was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of
Our Savior Lutheran Church and Gladwin W.W. I Barracks No. 3421 - Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr.
Nettleton and the former Miss Rose Schranz were married in Gladwin on Nov. 2, 1919.
The survivors include his wife, Rose; two sons, William and Charles, of Gladwin; two daughters,
Mrs. Josephine Roberts of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Freda Looker of Gladwin; five sisters, Mrs. Blanche
Searfoss, Mrs. Margaret Searfoss and Mrs. Clara Huntley, of Gladwin, Mrs. Jennie Moyst of Charlotte,
and Mrs. Minnie Stowell of Fenton; two brothers, Fred of Fenton and Roy of Ortonville; 15
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev.
Ernst Mueller officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery.
