Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Mavis Netmop

   Mavis Jean (Pitz) Netmop, 67, of Gladwin went to dwell with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 surrounded by her loving family at Tendercare-Mt. Pleasant.

   Mavis was born on Wednesday, March 13, 1940 in Kalkaska, Michigan, the daughter of Frederick N. and Beulah (Castle) Pitz.

   She married the “love of her life” William Netmop on April 4, 1966 in Gladwin County and they spent many happy years living in or near Gladwin.

   She has spent the last year in nursing care because of her illness. Mavis grew up in the Fife Lake/Lake City area and has numerous cousins living there.

   She moved to the Clare/Farwell area later while in elementary school and graduated from Farwell High School in 1958.

   She spent her life in service to her Lord Jesus and caring for her daughter, Lorene, who was stricken with Muscular Dystrophy at a young age, Lorene’s two daughters and her husband, Bill, who suffered with back problems for many years.

   Mavis is survived by her husband, Bill; one daughter, Lorene McArthur, a patient at Tendercare Gaylord; two grandchildren, Christina, 27, and Christal, 24; stepchildren, William and Cindy Netmop Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Sharon and Ron Sasse, Rita and John Bills of Gladwin, Robert and Sue Netmop, and Mary and Mike Floyd of Mt. Pleasant; family members raised by Bill and Mavis also include David Detzler and his friend Karrie Knapp, Annette and Jeff Buckner, and Brenda and Don Schlegel all of Mt. Pleasant. She was blessed with 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene Pearl Pitz of Atlantic Mine, Michigan; her brother, James Christ Pitz of Chiefland, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Mavis was preceded in death by her father, Frederick; and her mother and stepfather, Beulah and Claron Thornburg; and stepson, Rodney Netmop.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Helms Funeral Home with the Reverend Owen Smith officiating. Interment will follow in McClure Cemetery in Gladwin at 3 p.m.
