Norbert Nearing

NORBERT NEARING


  Norbert S. (Nubbs) Nearing, 59, of 5300 Heron Cove, Beaverton, died Thursday, July 23, in St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw. Born in Bay County March 15, 1928, he moved to Gladwin County in 1976. Mr. Nearing was a millwright at the Grey Iron Foundry for 21 years. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, a life member of the Bay City D.A.V. Chapter 9, U.A.W. 668 of Saginaw, the Essexville Knights of Columbus 2740 and a veteran of the Army during World War II. Mr. Nearing and the former Betty Hugo were married Oct. 15, 1955, in Essexville.

  Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Mark of Pinconning and David of Vero Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Janis of Bay City; 2 brothers, Erwin of Munger and Steven of Bellaire; one sister, Edith Sisson of Bay City; several step-brothers and step-sisters; and one grandson.

  Rites were held Monday at 11 a.m. from St. Anne's Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Joseph Schabel officiated and burial was in the Billings Township Cemetery. Military services were conducted by the Midland American Legion Post. Arrangements were in charge of the Ware-Smith-Woolever & Co. Funeral Home..
