Ida Mae Near


   Ida Mae Near, daughter of Barbara and George Van Horn, was born in Missouri Sept. 23, 1887, and Went borne to be united with the Lord Friday, Feb. 3, 1928, being 40 years, 4 months and 11 days old at the time of her death. She lived in Missouri until four years of age and then came with her parents to reside on a farm in Gladwin county and has lived here since. She was married to Norman Near Feb. 6, 1907 and three children were born to them, all of whom with the husband are living at the home 13 miles north of Gladwin. The children are: Louisa, age 19; Charlie, 18; and Violet, 16. She united with the Skeels Baptist church Sept. 30, 1923, and has been an active and faithful member. She was the teacher of a primary class in the Sunday school and treasurer of the Ladies' Missionary Circle. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Ervin Willis, and three brothers, Guy, Charles and William Van Horn of Gladwin county, and one brother Amos, of Flint, besides a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. R. HiU at the Baptist church, Skeels, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, and interment was made in Sherman cemetery.
