Eldon Nash
Eldon “Curley” L. Nash, 78, of Gladwin passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Bay Medical Center-Bay City following a brief illness.
He was born in Pickford on Oct. 8, 1928 to the late Ervin and Helen (Hager) Nash He married the former Marian Greer on June 19, 1948 at Skeels Baptist Church.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Gladwin. Curley has lived in Gladwin most of his life, having once owned E.L. Nash Dodge Sales and E.L. Nash & Sons Excavating until retiring in 2000 He was active in the Gladwin and Kawkawlin fire departments with a total of 48 years of service including the position of assistant chief. He loved to watch his grandchildren at their sporting events and dance recitals. After retirement, Curley was a regular figure at the local coffee shops, discussing and solving the problems of Gladwin and the world.
Surviving are his wife, Marian; two sons, Bill (Mari) Nash and Todd Nash, both of Gladwin; two daughters, Debi (Mike) Perkins and Julie (Jerry) French, both of Gladwin; one brother, Marvin (Betty) Nash of Gladwin; two sisters, Beverly (Don) Schuch of Petoskey and Gloria (Charlie) George of Peoria, Arizona; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, DeWayne and Edwin Nash.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Sisson Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Dorais presiding with burial in Ridge Cemetery. A memorial salute by the Gladwin Rural Urban Fire Department was made Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made out according to the family’s wishes. Sisson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
