Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Alice Murhpy

   Alice Murphy, 83, of Gladwin passed away Monday, May 16, 2005 at McClaren Regional Medical Center-Flint. She was born on Nov. 17, 1921 in Lake Leelenau to Howard and Edith (Plamondon) Walter.

   She worked as an LPN for Hurley Medical Center and retired in 1983 from Genesee Memorial Hospital. She moved to Gladwin in 1983 but has owned property here since 1965.

   Her first husband, Albert Keeven, passed away in 1972. Alice then married Alvin Murphy in 1976. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was co-chairman for the prayer chain for many years. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary and the Ladies Sodality.

   She is survived by one son, Gary (Barbara) Keeven of Cass City; one daughter, Sharon (Alvin) Parsell of Gladwin; one granddaughter, Stacy L. Keeven; one grandson, Justin; three brothers, Earl (Earlean) Walter of Mesick, Howard Walter of Coswell, and Arthur (Bonnie) Walter of Harrison; two sisters, Lillian (Arthur) Palmer of Burton, and Phyllis (Andy) Anderson of Mt. Morris; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Wayne Keeven; three brothers, Albert, Alfred and Ervin Walter; one sister, Edith Snooks; one daughter-in-law, Susan Keeven; and three sisters- in-law, Sylvia, Gloria and Beatrice.

   A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin with Rev. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak presiding. Burial will take place in Lakefield Cemetery, Merrill. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday with a scripture service to be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Gladwin.

   The Sisson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
