Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Robert Morrill

   Robert Morrill, 79, of Gladwin passed away Monday, May 16, 2005 at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw. He was born on April 14, 1926 in Eaton Rapids to the late O.C. and Grace (Pardee) Morrill.

   He married the former Fern Kelbey on Jan. 5, 1946 in Saginaw; she survives him. They raised their family in Saginaw and moved to Gladwin from Beaverton in 2001. Bob retired as a mechanic from Garber Buick after 41 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII where he received the Bronze Star and was a member of the VFW Post #7303, Estey Moose Lodge, and United Commercial Travelers. He was also an avid golfer.

   Surviving him besides his wife Fern are two sons, Robert Morrill of Sanford, North Carolina, and Gary (Lynn) Morrill of Phoenix, Arizona; one daughter, Denise (Bruce) VanderWeele of Kalamazoo; a daughter-in-law, Rose Morrill of Mt. Gilead, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Robert (Tyke) and Scott of Sanford, North Carolina, Kris of Springfield, Virginia, Becky of Henderson, North Carolina, Kim, Beth, and Kristin of Kalamazoo, Brian VanderWeele of Chicago, Illinois, Aaron Morrill of Phoenix, Arizona, and Michael Morrill stationed in Germany; eight Great grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Dick) Trace of Athens, Ohio; brother-in-law, Rob Harley of Sanford; sister-in-law Betty Salois of Bay City; and a half sister, Colleen Edwards of Flint. He was predeceased by his parents; one grandson, Justin Morrill; one brother, Rex Morrill; and two sisters, Joyce and Donna.

   Funeral Mass was celebrated on May 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak presiding. Entombment and committal services were held in Chapel Hill Mausoleum in Freeland, with Fr. Joseph Schabel. Memorials may be made out to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. Anne’s Catholic Church. The Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin was in charge of arrangements.
