Paul Moore

   Rev. Paul K. Moore, of Holt went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the age of 83.

   Paul was born on September 13, 1921 in Englewood, Ohio. He was the son of the late Clarence T. and Jennie (Koofer) Moore. He received his Master’s of Divinity from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.

   He married Emily C. Bushey on May 25, 1945 at their alma mater Olivet Nazarene University. Together they served churches in Ohio and Kansas. After seminary graduation in 1951 Reverend Moore came to Michigan to pastor the Church of the Nazarene congregations in Corey, Three Rivers, St. Louis, Grand Haven, Saginaw, Owosso, Mt. Pleasant, Holt and Marshall.

   He served for many years as a Trustee to the Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. For over 30 years he served the Michigan District on the Advisory and Credentials Boards. He served as the District NYPS President for a number of years. After retirement in 1986 he and his wife Emily made their home at Indian Lake Nazarene Campground in Vicksburg. They loved to travel to the Florida Holiness Camp in Lakeland where they spent a number of winters. He authored "A History of Indian Lake Nazarene Camp.”

   In his spare time he enjoyed fishing. His family will greet friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the RDMG Life Story Funeral Home, Vicksburg Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday at the Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene with burial in the Vicksburg Cemetery.

   Members of his family include his three sons: Rev. Mark H. (Sharon) Moore of Beaverton; Rev. Ronald (Diane) Moore of Lansing, and David (Kristin) Moore of Boulder, Colorado; four grandchildren: Matthew (Heather) Moore, of Illinois; Mark D. (Stacey) Moore, of Illinois, Paul E. Moore, of Illinois and Judy Moore, of Lansing; two great grandchildren: Logan and Andrew Moore. He is also survived by two brothers Rev. Norman (Margaret) Moore, Illinois; Rev. Mark E. (Lucille) Moore, of Ohio; one sister Esther (George) Jetter, of OH; one sister-in-law Caroline Moore, of Pennsylvania.

   He follows in death his wife Emily who died January 18, 2005, one brother Lawrence Moore, and a Great-grand daughter Emily Joy Moore.
