James Mitchell
JAMES MITCHELL DIES IN HAMILTON TOWNSHIP
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, September 14, for James Mitchell, at the Sacred
Heart church conducted by Rev. A. S. Baumann. Burial was at Highland cemetery. Born July 31,
1856, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he married Julia O'Connor in 1886 who died June 5, 1925. He
died September 12, 1937 at the home of his daughter. Mrs. James McGuire, in Hamilton township,
Clare county. He had been in failing health for several months, but was ill in bed only a few days
before his death.
Besides his wife, two daughters have died. Mrs. Joseph Shea on April 19, 1928 and Joanna, in
infancy. Surviving him are one daughter and two sons, Mrs. James McGuire, Anselm and Basil Mitchell,
all of Hamilton township, Clare county; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Hayes and one brother, Thomas
Mitchell, both of Mackinaw; 15 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
