Charles Mitchell
RITES TODAY FOR GROUT MAN
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) from the Hall Funeral Home for Charles Mitchell,
69, of Grout Township, who died Sunday after a short illness. Born in Beaverton on June 1, 1895,
he was employed in farming. After several years in Detroit he moved back to Gladwin County seven
years ago. Mr. Mitchell was a World War I veteran. He was married to the former Ruvena Geer. She
preceded him in death in 1926.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Alberta Ulch, of Highwood Road, Mrs. Ida Hendricks,
Bowling Green, Ind., Mrs. Myrtle Martin, Wilmington, Calif., Mrs. Doris Johnson, San Jose, Calif.,
and Mrs. Verna Jean Harsch, of Pontiac; two brothers, Charles and Warrne Campbell, of Dearborn; one
sister, Mrs. Iva Bassett, of Florida; 24 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The Rev. Gordon
Showers officiated and burial was in Grout Cemetery.
