Myrtle M. Miller
RITES HELD FOR MYRTLE MILLER
Mrs. Myrtle M. Miller, 61, well-known Beaverton resident and school teacher, died suddenly in Kalamazoo Saturday night after suffering a heart attack. She was attending a church retreat at Kalamazoo College. The former Myrtle Spohn, she was born in Harrison on May 8, 1908. Mrs. Miller graduated from Harrison High School in 1924 and Central Michigan University in 1954. She started teaching in the fall of 1924 and taught at Hatton Township, Eagle, Temple and Harrison schools before going to Beaverton Junior High School in 1958.
Mrs. Miller was an active member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren and a member of the Michigan Education Association and the Beaverton Education Association. She was married to Ira David Miller on Dec. 27, 1928, in Clare. He preceded her in death in August 1942. Surviving are one son, David, of Beaverton; one daughter, Mrs. Delma Witkovsky, of Oak Brook, Ill.; two brothers, John of Arizona and Charles of Sandusky; one sister, Mrs. Katherine Brink, of McBain; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. from the Beaverton Church of The Brethren. The Rev. Herman Lininger officiated and burial was in the Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare. The Minor-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
