Kenneth Miller
Kenneth Oliver Miller, 85, of Beaverton died Monday, July 24, 2006. He was born in Lansing on April 29, 1921, the son of Oliver and Mabel (Croy) Miller.
Miller wrote, "I moved to Beaverton township in 1933 at the age of 12 with my mother and step-dad Clinton and Mabel Willis. I previously lived in Maple Grove south of Lansing, Booneville, Mississippi, South Bend, Indiana, and Diamondale, Michigan with both of my parents. I graduated from Beaverton Agricultural School in 1941." "I am a veteran of WWII, European Theatre, First Army, 19 corps, Ninth Army, five campaigns, Omaha Beach to the Elbe River in Germany. I am a trustee of VFW Post 1071 of Coleman. “I met Annabelle Sumption at school in Maple Grove at the age of 12. We were married in Beaverton Township by the late Leon Methner on Feb. 14, 1949. I have farmed all my life. I have lived in the same home since 1934 in Beaverton Township. I love to farm and liked to hunt. I also enjoy meeting my high school classmates every month."
"I am survived by my daughter Josephine Miller and many nieces and nephews. I am also survived by my sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. I was preceded in death by my wife Annabelle on Aug. 9, 2002; brothers, Chester A. Miller on Dec. 7, 1988 and Nathan Miller in 1960; my parents Oliver Miller, August of 1968 and Mabel Willis, Nov. 7, 1977, my step-dad Clinton Willis in 1957; and also brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law."
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2006 at the Church of Daniel’s Band in Beaverton with Rev. Duane Koontz officiating. A committal service was held at the Diamondale Cemetery near Lansing.
