Leon Methner
Leon F. Methner, 75, of 202 S. Seeley St., Beaverton, died Monday, Feb. 17, at the home of his grandson, Scott Macklem, in Sebring, Fla., after a long illness. Born in Coleman March 25, 1910, he retired from the Farmington Grade School in 1974 after 39 years of teaching. Mr. Methner taught band in the Beaverton schools from 1937 through 1941 and then from 1943 through 1943 through 1956. He moved back to Gladwin County in 1974. He was a former Elder in the Beaverton Senior Citizens. Mr. Methner and the former Helen Cottrell were married Jan. 19, 1935, in Mt. Pleasant.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Wayne of Beaverton, Hugh of Westland and Jerry of Sault Ste. Marie; one daughter, Mrs. Lee (Carol) Macklem of Midland; 2 brothers, Marlin and Joyce of Beaverton; one sister, Mrs. Elva Hubbard of Pontiac; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Arrangements are incomplete and in charge of the Hall Funeral Home.
