Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Jay McKimmy

   Jay W. McKimmy, 82, of 2759 Canal St., Ludington, died Friday, Sept. 18, in the Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, after a long illness. Born in Beaverton June 8, 1905, he moved to Ludington in 1970. Mr. McKimmy was an operating engineer for Kellogg Chimney Co., Williamsport, Pa., until retiring in 1981. He had worked for many years for Austin Co. in Midland and 2 years at Walter Reuther Bear Lake Project. He was a life member of the AFL-CIO Union of Operating Engineers 324 and received a 40 year pin in February. Mr. McKimmy was also a member of the Kearny, Ariz. Elks Club 2478.

   Surviving are his wife, the former Vera Glidden Wager; one step-son, Donald Wagar of Midland; a foster son, James Peterson of Holt, Mo.; one brother, Ottamar of Gladwin; and 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A step-daughter, Carol Ann Yost, preceded him in death April 29, 1982.

   Services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. The Rev. Henry List officiated and burial was in the Dale Cemetery.
