Francis M. McKimmy
Benjamin McKimmey, who resides at 139 North Main street in this city,
received a dispatch Friday evening stating that after a brief illness, his brother, Francis
McKimmy, died at 6 o'clock Friday night at his home in Fairfield. Death was caused by a
complication of diseases, in which grip predominated. The funeral arrangements have not been
completed. The deceased is survived by a wife and two sons, Ellsworth and Franklin, besides
the one brother in Adrian.
Francis McKimm was born in Preston county, West Virginia, in 1846. He lived there until
1863, when he enlisted in the Sixth West Virginia Cavalry on the Union ride. He remained in the
army until the close of the war, at the conclusion of which he returned to his native home and
resided there until 1881, when he came to Michigan and settled at Ogden Center. Three years ago
he removed to Fairfield, where he has remained since. He has always followed the occupation of a
farmer, and has been known among his many warm friends and associates as a brave and loyal man,
and a kind friend to all.
