Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Floyd McGinty

   Floyd C. McGinty, 72, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.

   He was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Morbitzer) McGinty; he was born Nov. 17, 1933 in Saginaw County. He married Rosemary LaDuke, Aug. 8, 1953.

   He served with the U.S. Navy Sea Bees. Floyd was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone retiring in 1979 with 25 years of service. He was a member of the Merrill Masonic Lodge #411 F. & A.M. and the Harrison Lodge # 436 F. & A.M. He had a great interest in Motocross racing, owning and operating the White Birch Cycle Park in Stanton. Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf, and traveled extensively, both by yacht and motor home. He also was a participant in his longtime card club in Harrison.

   Surviving are his wife, Rosemary; a sister, Betty McGinty of Birch Run; and a special aunt, Margarette Ladd of Saginaw; his nieces and nephews and their spouses, Michael McGinty of Birch Run; Sharon and David Fleming, and Pat and Frank Fleming, all of Midland; Linda and Maynard Davis of Merrill; Vicki Lundstrom, and Robert and Jacque LaDuke, all of Freeland; Ron and Sue LaDuke of Zeeland; Beverly and Bill Mangham of Denver; Kim and Carolyn LaDuke of New York; several great nieces and great nephews; and a sister-in-law, Iris LaDuke of Merrill. He is predeceased by a son, Kevin McGinty, who passed away in 1978.

   A Masonic memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill with the Harrison Masonic Lodge #436 F. & A.M. officiating, followed by the funeral service with Mrs. Jo Jones officiating. Cremation will follow.

   Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Merrill Congregational Church or the charity of their choice.
