DROWNED HIMSELF - JOHN MCCRANDALL, AN OLD RESIDENT OF BILLINGS
DISAPPEARS AND BODY IS NOT FOUND - SUPPOSED WATERY GRAVE
John McCrandell, living at Gerrish dam in Billings,
went after a pail of water Friday evening the 20th,
and not returning his wife and sister went to search
for him. Not finding him they alarmed the neighbors
and search was made all that night and part of the
next day without avail. Sunday they grappled for his
body in the river but without success.
He had made threats several times that he would
drown himself, and lately when neighbors called on him
he bid, them goodby, saying that he would never see
them again. He was an invalid several years preceding
his supposed death. He leaves a wife and eight
children.
