William McClure
William J. (Jim) McClure, 70, of 800 Chatterton St., Gladwin, died Monday,
Nov. 23, in the Midland Hospital Center following a long illness. Born in Gladwin on January
17, 1911, he had spent his lifetime here. Mr. McClure retired as a city employee January 26,
1976, after 30 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a veteran of World War
II. Mr. McClure and the former Shirley Jarrett were married June 7, 1952, in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, William of Gladwin; one daughter, Mrs. Carl
(Jarrett) Benander of Gladwin; one brother, Glen Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; 5 sisters, Mrs. Gwendola
Butler, Mrs. Marion Grove and Mrs. Hazel Johnson of Flint, Donna McClure of Prudenville and Mrs.
Wilma Goldsmith of Kissimee, Fla.; and 2 grandchildren.
Services were held Friday at 3 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Father
T. Edward Bennett officiated and burial was in Highland Cemetery.
