John Mather
ILLNESS FATAL TO JOHN MATHER
John Mather, 47, o f1425 Hockaday Road, Gladwin Township, died Monday, March 14. Services
will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Miner Chapel with Fr. George Artman officiating and
burial will be in Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Mather was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Traverse City to Mr.
and Mrs. Milton Mather Sr. He was married to the former Miss Edna M. Carman in Pontiac on Dec.
12, 1940. A World War II veteran, he worked at the Buick factory in Flint for a few years before
going to Dow Chemical at Midland where he had been employed as an operator for the past 15 years.
He had lived in Gladwin County since 1948.
Survivors include his wife Edna, three daughters, Mrs. Patricia Fahrner of West Branch, Mrs.
Karan Matz of Gladwin, and Rosemary June at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Mather Sr.;
three brothers, James and Milton Jr. of Gladwin, and Kendall of Flint; two sisters, Mrs. Wilbur
Hillier of Gladwin and Mrs. Robert Nash of Otter Lake; and three grandchildren.
