Herman Mark
Herman (Whitey) Mark, 58, of 515 S. Hawkins, Gladwin, died Thursday, April 9,
in the Midland Hospital Center following an illness of a year. Born in Detroit on February 6,
1923, he came to Gladwin County in 1971, from Utica. He formerly owned Mark's Tool and Die Shop
in Hazel Park and was employed by Brown Machine Co. Mr. Mark served in the Navy during World War
II and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He was married to the former Jean Skowron on
February 7, 1944, in Detroit.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Gary (Kathleen) Turnquist of Canton and
Mrs. Dale (Susan) Alexander of Beaverton; 2 sons, John of Pinconning and James of Gladwin; and 8
grandchildren. Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev.
Father Joseph Castanier officiated and burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements were in
charge of the Hall Funeral Home.
