Joseph Mansfield
RITES TODAY FOR JOSEPH MANSFIELD
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 1
p.m. at the Brethren in Christ Church Butman, for
Joseph P. Mansfield, 82, well-known county resident,
who died suddenly at his home in Clement Township
Sunday. The Rev. Melvin Stauffer officiated and burial
was in Butman Cemetery. Born on April 11, 1882, in
Paulding County, Ohio, he was married to the former
Annie Brown Dec. 22, 1904, in Butman Township. She
preceded him in death on March 11 of this year.
A Gladwin county resident since 1896, he was a
member of the Brethren in Christ Church of Butman. A
retired farmer, he had also been a foreman of a CCC
camp from 1931 until 1936, a conservation department
fire warden, an employee of the state highway
department, a former member of the school board and
Clement Township justice of the peace.
Surviving are a son, Russel, of Gladwin; a
daughter, Mrs. Lillian Hayes, of Flint; a sister, Mrs.
Alice Mayfield, of Flint; seven grandchildren and six
great grandchildren.
